Vista is situated in San Diego's North County ----it's pretty much in the best part of America's Finest City.

While the Ranchero is located in a rural setting, it's only a few miles to a major freeway where you can aim your car in pretty much any direction and find a major attraction: The world famous San Diego Zoo is about 30 miles south, while the Wild Animal Park is only about 15 miles in the other direction. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/
Want to go to the beach? There are two beautiful beaches within 7 miles and you can dine on the Oceanside Pier or surf in the waves at Carlsbad.

Feel like spending the day with Mickey? Disneyland is exactly one hour by car and you can even hop on Amtrack if you don't feel like driving to the Happiest Place on Earth.
Not to brag, but Vista was listed as the seventh-best place in the United States for family life, based on factors such as jobs and business opportunities, education, climate, and cost-of-living in a 2008 review. So there's that.
If you're feeling all' Mamma Mia,' check out Moonlight Productions- a top-notch theater we have in the park. It's a pretty big deal!

The San Diego Airport and John Wayne Airport in Irvine are about the same distance----about 40 miles----so it's your call on where you want to land.
Feel like a little mountain air? Spend a day in the mountain town of Julian eating apple pie and perusing the antique shops and be back at the Ranchero for a glass of wine before the sun sets.

There are lavender fields to visit,

steam engine and surf museums to gawk at, a race track to bet on the ponies, and shopping outlets and fabulous restaurants within a few miles of your B&B.
Temecula wine country is less that 30 minutes north and you can partake in more than 20 wineries, as long as you can drive home.
Palm Springs is less than 2 hours away and Mexico is an hour by car so really, what more could you ask for?
The Reeds can suggest day- trips and provide maps and reservations for just about anything in the Southern California area, all you have to do is ask.

The evening light that dances off the setting sun creates the famous 'evening hues' at the Reed Ranchero.
